Residential Care Programme

Our 7 Residential Care Centres provide a safe and stable environment for 350 persons with Mental Disability by offering safe and secure accommodation, Nutritious Meals, Medical Care & Management, Personal Grooming & Care, Life skills & Life Enhancement Programmes, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Programmes and Stimulation Activities, including Live Arts & Crafts and Social & Community Integration.

Our 350 residents, comprise of 84 Residents with Profound Intellectual Disability who reside at Jona Vaughan Home, 105 Residents with Psychiatric Illness reside at our 4 Halfway Houses viz: Austerville Halfway House, Azalea Halfway House, Manor Halfway House and Umlazi Halfway House and our 161 Residents with Intellectual Disability reside at our Sherwood and Phoenix Residential Centres.

These 7 Residential Care Centres have made a significant impact in the lives of many persons who consider these Centres as their “Home”, as many Residents have been destitute, abandoned or have parents who are extremely frail and cannot care for their disabled “child/adult”.

All Residents require assistance with their medical needs which include medical administration, transportation to and from medical appointments and management of their medical care. Residential Care Programme achieves the following:

  • 24 – hour care for persons with Psychiatric and Intellectual Disability.
  • Nutritional meals to assist Residents in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • Therapeutic intervention and counselling to Residents and their families.
  • High care medical management for Residents’ physical and psychiatric health needs.

Ongoing training and supervision for staff to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
