Durban & Coastal Mental Health
DCMH is one of South Africa’s longest-serving and largest indigenous Non-Profit Organisations, established in 1940. For over 80 years we’ve stood with people living with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities, especially in underserved and rural communities.
Beyond care, we reduce the burden on families, strengthen communities and confront stigma with practical support, therapy and pathways to dignified work.

A message from our CEO
“Every day I see the courage of our residents, the dedication of our staff, and the quiet heroism of families who stand by their loved ones. DCMH is more than an organisation — it is a community of care and a promise of dignity for some of society’s most vulnerable members. Together, we will keep breaking barriers, fighting stigma and building a future where mental health is a shared responsibility.”
