Each of us wants to feel safe, secure and comfortable at home – we need to feel unhindered to be ourselves and accepted for “All We Are”. Durban and Coastal Mental Health offers a secure, nurturing home to the nearly 350 adults and children who reside in our 7 Residential Care facilities.
Residents receive 24-hour professional care, nutritious meals, medical management, economic empowerment, personal grooming skills, stimulation and social integration, and are actively involved in a range of activities from exercise and sports, to live arts and crafts.
Our Phoenix and Sherwood Hostels are subsidised by the Department of Social Development and cater for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Our Halfway Houses, situated in central Durban, Wentworth and Umlazi, provide accommodation for adults with psychiatric illnesses.
Jona Vaughan Home in Amanzimtoti provides residential care for children and adults with profound intellectual disability.
